Not much as there was not much to be learned.

We are just working on our final. Yay!!

  1.  What did you actually learned from the unit. I found the lectures interesting this week, there is so much to the management side of nursing that I don't always think about so it was interesting to think about that point of view.  2. Discuss your feelings/experiences from the team activities? Did it change your opinion on the subject? If so, how? If not, why? Sometimes it can be hard to gauge the team activities just because we all do them at different times during the week. I work Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights, therefor I do most of my homework at the beginning of the week. I think a lot of my teammates wait until the weekend to do their homework and so I don't always get to learn from their opinions in that aspect.  3. How you will utilize the information learned in your nursing practice. I think next time I meet with my manager for my quarterly review I will have more respect for the concepts and why they are utilized.  4. You personal feelings...

Leadership Characteristics

  1.    Leadership requires personal mastery   – Nurses demonstrate leadership when they show competence and mastery in the tasks they perform. Nurses are deemed competent by means of a license to practice nursing (NLN 2010). 2.   Leadership is about values  – A leader has to have values, those they are leading follow these values  and learn from their leaders.  3.    Leadership is about service  – Not only are you serving patients, you are serving as a go to for your team of employees.  4.    Leadership is about people and relationships  – If you don't have a good relationship with your peers, you team, the people around you, your workplace will be miserable. If the charge nurse for the shift doesn't have a good relationship with his/her peers, the team will not function well and has potential to impact patient care.  5.     Leadership is contextual  – relating what you're doing in ...
