Reflection week 6

 1. What did you actually learned from the unit.

I learned a lot about the firing and discipline process and how much it would suck to have to be in that position.

2. Discuss your feelings/experiences from the team activities? Did it change your opinion on the subject? If so, how? If not, why?

The team activity was short this week so there wasn't a ton to learn. I always enjoy reading my teams contribution to our questions for the week. It is good to see different perspectives on that matter.

3. How you will utilize the information learned in your nursing practice.

To be completely honest, I hope I never have to fire anybody or take any type of disciplinary action against anyone but of course that isn't real life. It was great insight to learn about.

4. You personal feelings about the material covered.

I enjoyed it, I think there is always something to be learned, I just wish I had more time to commit to school. I will keep trying my best though because that is all I can do.

Leadership Characteristics

  1.    Leadership requires personal mastery   – Nurses demonstrate leadership when they show competence and mastery in the tasks they perform. Nurses are deemed competent by means of a license to practice nursing (NLN 2010). 2.   Leadership is about values  – A leader has to have values, those they are leading follow these values  and learn from their leaders.  3.    Leadership is about service  – Not only are you serving patients, you are serving as a go to for your team of employees.  4.    Leadership is about people and relationships  – If you don't have a good relationship with your peers, you team, the people around you, your workplace will be miserable. If the charge nurse for the shift doesn't have a good relationship with his/her peers, the team will not function well and has potential to impact patient care.  5.     Leadership is contextual  – relating what you're doing in ...

Personality Test

     a. The results of the test The result of the test for me was 'Steady'.       b. Was this a revelation/ new knowledge about yourself? I actually agree with the test and I felt as though it did explain my personality fairly closely.        c. How will this effect your leadership style? I don't think it will affect it, I am pretty easy going and still an important and necessary part of a team in order for the team to function well.       d. What will you do with the knowledge this test gives you? Not a whole lot, I found it interesting and pretty closely correct but I don't think I will do much with it, it is what it is and I am who I am.
